Do head units need a amp or can i connect them directly to the battery?

I'm not sure what you're asking here, but most have their own internal amplifier. Connecting the headunit to a fuse from the fuse panel would be sufficient in providing enough power to the headunit. External amplifiers would be a good idea if you want the sound to have more depth to it. Hope that helped...
