My 859's screen went blank yesterday. Everythign else works. First one I had the drop down faceplate locked into the down position. Kenwood replaced teh radio (was only 2 weeks old) in 02. THis one lasted fine since. But a few months ago I noticed teh spectrum anilyser (sp?) display wasnt working. No big deal to be honest. But now the scree is completely blank. The buttons and dial light up, but no display. Would this be something that dreaded ribbon cable would cause?

sounds like the ribbon cable. you could try hitting the reset button, but my money's on the ribbon cable. it wasn't that hard to replace on my KDC-V7017
