I am upgrading my standard system and have questions!!
I have 6 speakers currently (80w rms each) and will add one 10" mor 12" sub to this.
Where do I start?
What size, type (D or AB), and channel amp or amps will I need?
Do I mount the amps closest to my battery or closest to the speakers?
I have been looking at the Sony XM-SD46X (60watts x 4) is this sufficient?
Any suggestions would help!!!!

Closest to the battery, but make sure its in a well shelterd area especially if your operating in salt water. I can tell you from experience that the marine enviroment can be hell on electronics, especially those not designed for that specific use.

I don't even know if anyone makes a "marine" amplifier. Most guys I see just run off h/u power. Of course I've never really heard a small boat system that sounded very good either.

Personally I like it quiet when I'm out on the water.
