Hi there, can anyone help?
Does anyone know what kind of wattage goes from any common headunit to the amp via the RCA cable? The output from the headunit may be high level and 60W say, but is it 60W going down the RCA cable or much less? Does low level mean very, very low wattage?

no wattage. well nothing for driving speakers anyway.
it's strictly a signal level path.
usually around 4 volts, and maybe 500mA, so perhaps 2 watts if you want to look at it that way.

by the way, the most powerful head units I know, the Alpine Vdrive models, are only 27Wrms x 4.
those ratings of 50 and 60 watts x 4 are "max" not RMS or continuous.
