I have a 97 civic with a factory radio and I upgraded the speakers front 6 1/4" 2-35 watts RMS 150 max and rear 6 x 9's 8-75RMS 150 max. I want to give them more power, they sound week but i don't want to change my factory head unit. I need to keep cost down. Can I use a 2 channel instead of a 4 channel to get the extra power I'm looking for as 2 ch seem to be less expensive than 4 ch.

You can get a 2 channel amp but you will be running it at 2 ohms so it will run a little hotter then a 4 channel amp but you can do it. In order to add an amp you will need a hi lo converter.

However you will seriously want to reconsider getting a new head unit as the sound that will be coming out of a stock hu will sound like.. crapola.
