Thread: My fuse keeps blowing |

i have a volfenhag 2000 watt amp and i have checked every wire and have no shorts but my fuse blows within 5 seconds every time i try to play my stereo and my amp and subs shut off what can i do to fix this?? |

How are your subs wired? Is that amp 1, 2, 4 ohm stable? |

What size wire and in- line fuse do you have to the amp? Also what size fuse does the amp have? |

This may sound like a dumb answer but check if your power and ground wires are in the correct inputs and not backwards. If this is not the case, then take out your amp, place it by the battery on a secure location. Connect the power wire to the positve terminal, and the grond to the negative. turn the ignition on, it it does not blow, then apply wires one at a time until it does. and when it does, the last wire your attached to grouding out somewhere. |

First thing actually would be to upgrade the amps on the fuse. |

You dont just "UPGRADE" the fuse to a higher amperage one! he may have the correct size in and its blowing for a reason. too much current draw, too small a main powerwire, etc... if you just put in a bigger fuse you are totally bypassing the reason for having one in there in the first place...preventing fires! |

Exactly to much current draw, so increasing the amps on the fuse might help. I dont care if you throw a 80 anl fuse in, it will still blow if running on 8 gauge wire. I use to run my 500/1 on 8 guage wire with a 50 anl fuse block, it grounded out on install and blew. So i would greatly appreciate it if you would not belittle what i post. |

It was in no way my intent to appear to belittle your post. if it came across that way...i apologize. but what im saying is if his amplifiers pull 100 amps and you put a 150 amp fuse on the main line, you may as well have no fuse at all. especially if the main cable is too small a guage. |

The best thing to do is look in the manual for the amp and use the suggested inline fuse. If it doesnt give one match the inline fuse with the fuse that is in the amp. If more than one fuse match the inline with the total of all the amp fuses. |

well i had the same problem and i solved it by getting a bigger fuse my fuse was a 25 so i got a 30 and problem fixed |

I'm having a similar problem, I have a Kenwood KAC-7201 2-ch. amp and as soon as I turn on my car the two 30 watts fuses blow out. I have not tried to "upgrade" the fuses yet, I'm not sure exactly what to do. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. |
