Hi, I bought a used 4 channel Rockford P8004 AMP, and 8 gauge amp wiring from my friend (he has plans for upgrade). I want to use this AMP to power front channels and a subwoofer (by bridging rear channels). Do I need to buy a 4 gauge wiring kit if i bridge (when rear channels bridged it output is 400 RMS as per specs) Thanks in advance |

I'd personally go to 2 awg if your amp has a 120 amp max rating. |

Too be safe like Joe said you need 2 gauge wire or maybe you could get by with 3-gauge wire. 2-gauge wire is good up to 208 amps and the battery fuse should be 200. 8-gauge wire is good only up to 52 amps. And the battery fuse should not be over 50 amps on 8-gauge wire. The product manual calls for 4 gauge because 4 gauge wire has a 131-amp rating and you need a 125 fuse at the battery. 4-gauge wire would possibly work but it would be so close to the max it would pop fuses when you turn it up loud I think. |
