Any thoughts on which amp is a better choice to push two 10's. Alpine MRD-M301 or Phoenix Gold Octane-R 5.0.1?

Alpine is an incredibley good brand, but my friend has a phoniex golf 1000 watt 2 channel amp and an alpine 1000 watt 2 channel amp and I swear the phoniex gold seams to put out more rms power with less strain. Either brand is very good though and either would be a good amp.
