Ohms is the term used to describe a drivers electrical impendence. All subs have and impendence, likewise, all amplifiers have a certain impendance range they can opperate in.
There are a few ways to wire subs that alter the overall impendence of the system.
ex. 2 4 ohm subwoofers wired in parallel(all positives to pos. on amp and all negs. to neg on amp, assuming this is a 1 channel amp)will result in a load of 2 ohms. 4 4ohm subwoofers wood result in a 1 ohm load.
Then there is series. series raises the impendance of the system.
ex. 2 4ohm subwoofers. you run one wire from sub A neg to neg on amp then one wire from sub B + to pos. on amp. then run a wire from the remaining + on sub A to the remaining neg on sub B. this results in an 8 ohm load.
