I have a 1997 Chevy tahoe and i just purchased a Hifonics BX1500d which i will be running at 1ohm 1500 watts. I have a 1 farad Monster cap. Will i need to upgrade the alternator and if so how much does that cost installed?

You might want to contact your Chevy dealer for the stock alternator's power rating. It's probably somewhere around 75A - 80A. I see you got fooled into buying monster cap. It won't do anything for a weak alternator. For the future, you only need 1F capacitor per 1000W of peak power.
You will need at least 150A HO alternator. They usually cost anywhere from $200 - $350. Since you have a Chevy, American car, it might be cheaper.
