I'm curious.. is it possible to set the gains on a powerful amp lower than u normally would inorder to match with a low Peak RMS component set?
Like if i had a 100 RMS comp. set and powered it with a 200 RMS x2 4ohms amp..and set the gains low..

Gregorious, the gain/level is not a volume control. You have to set it correctly. If your HU is 4v, set it to 4v.
A speaker will not blow from getting a little extra clean power.
