Will a sub sound the same whether it is wired into 2 or 8 ohm operation. |

That'll depend on the amp. Most car amps will operate better at 4ohms, not 8ohms. As you go lower in ohms, the output power will increase. However, do not exceed the amp's limit.

the impedance will affect the amount of power the amplifier supplies to the speaker(s).
