is it true when you upgrade to a higher amperage alternator -200's u need a different belt/pullies to turn it? aparently i need to get a 9 tooth belt or somethin instead if the one i got

Sometimes you do, but usually the alternator manufacturer will at least provide a pulley that will work with the belt you have. Sometimes HO alternators come with smaller pulleys so that they turn faster with the RPM of the car.
