What is the orange white lighting terminal wire for on my P860MP. I assume its a dimmer. I pulled the existing DEH P6000 and the orange white wires were not connected? thanks, jeff |

not always needed. it just dims the display when your lights are on if I recall. not a big deal.

Dims the CD display when the interior dome lights are on? I was wondering if some how the speedo/instrument dimmer knob would also dimm the CD display? Couldn't find anything in the manual. thanks, Jeff |

My understanding is that "RTFM" is particularly nasty remark reserved for true a**ho*es and imbeciles. ...Or maybe your reply was an innocuous suggestion? however, I prefaced my previous post with the fact that I did RTFM. Granted I may have overlooked the pertinent information, so I have looked it over a few more times. Still I find nothing. I installed it without connecting that wire. Cheers,

do the lights on the display work? if so, the wire really isn't needed.

only reason you'd need the dimmer wire is if that display is too bright at night, and you find it distracting while driving. otherwise, you're good to go.
