"Popular" and "Best" are totally different. Popular usually ends with a cheap company that more people are able to afford, and really, I have no clue what most people have in their vehicles. As far as best, it's highly subjective. Amps from Zapco, Arc Audio, McIntosh, TRU Technology, Brax, US amps, are all excellent (of course there are more). |

The answer to this question will depend heavily on your budget.

what make and model are these subs? Orion's got a 2400 watt class-D amp I believe, but I don't know the price for it.

personally i am an old school user and would swear b y anything orion made before 1998 there hcca amps are .5 ohm stable and can put out some serious wattage but if you are going to buy something new with alot of power on a fixed buget try looking into ma audio thay have a 3600 wat amp that runs about $500 |

those audiobahns honestly don't need that much power. they're fine with about 500 watts each if that. they're inefficient, overrated subs and 1200 watts is purely a thermal rating not what they need to perform at peak output.

and yeah I agree on the old Orions. I have three 2250SX amps, a 2125SX, 280GX, 300PRQ, 300PSW, two 200CRX, 400BDG, and a few other odds and ends here. Good stuff. hard to find a good class AB amp today that puts out 250wRMS x 2 @ 4 ohms

I've not been overly impressed with MA Audio, but like Planet, there are a lot of people who love the stuff. at least MA's amps are chromed, and pretty.

every so often the 2250SX or XTR2250 (same amp.. also called "the beast") shows up on ebay and goes for about $350-500. They're not very common to see. You can find 2100HCCA Orions there more often for about the same price, too. The Orion 2250 hasn't been made for about ten years now though I believe. Anyway Kicker makes very good amplifiers, as does MTX in about the same price range. other options are Cadence and Avionixx. they should give the required power in your price bracket.

MA Audio is made by the same company as Audiobahn. If you want to stick with similar brands Digital Audio would also be a good place to look. they have all 3 of these brands on www.thezeb.com. |
