My current setup is:
Alpine cda7995
Old Alpine Flex 256 amp 25x4 at 4 ohms
Old Alpine MRV1000 amp bridged 600x1 at 4 ohms
Infinity kappa 50.5 components 85 rms at 4 ohms
Infinity kappa perfect 10.1 400 at 4 ohms

I really want some more power for the highs. I am thinking an amp with 75-100 x4 at 4 ohms.
price range is around 400 or less. (preferably less) What I have come up with are the following
jl 300/4 $380
kicker 800.4 $330
kicker 04kx650.4 $360
hifonics zx6400 $250
orion 8004 $360
Of course I am always on ebay looking for a Mcintosh!
But most of all I want more low end. I want sq over spl. I like the sq of the infinity but want some more power. I am looking at IDMAX 10" or jl 10w6v2
Should I go with 1 or 2? I have a ford ranger x cab.
And what should power them?
I think my amp could handle one of the subs above but not 2.
for the jl I am looking at:
jl500/1 $420
Orion 600d $310
hifonix bx1000D $300
For the idmax I am a bit lost I guess I would need about 1000 watts at 4 ohms for it to thump and have good sq. or 2000 if I want 2.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Also any good places to buy this stuff.
Thanks.

Ok well I broke down and bought 2 IDMAX 10's now what should I do for an amp?
ALso I can run them 1 ohm or 4 ohm. I realize that most if not all amps put out a cleaner signal at 4 ohms but will it be noticable over 1 ohm? I am having trouble finding an amp that can power those bad boys at 4 ohm in my price range. I am looking at the orion 2500D at 4 ohms it is 1200 watts at .9 THD and at 1 ohm is 2500. How clean is this power. I know orion isnt what it used to be, but are they still ok?

Honestly, you were better off getting d2s so you could run a 2 ohm load. But anyway, how much are you willing to spend on this amp?

My subs havent shipped yet maybe I can switch to the D2's. Please elaborate on why d2s would be better.
I am looking to spend less than $500 on the sub amp.
I am still looking for a good amp for the highs as well.
Thanks,
Jason

because of the ohm load, as you know the lower it goes the higher your distortion, thus 2 ohm load better

well if you want to use a mono amp then for it to perform you'll want 2ohms, but let me ask if your subs are dual 2 or 4
ps 4 ohms will have better sq than 2ohms but you'd really only notice it in full range, since your running it at least 100hz and lower you'll never hear a diff

I am confused. Why would a mono amp at 2 ohms be better than a mono amp at 4 ohms?

You're going to have a hard time finding a mono amp that puts out 2000W RMS at 4 ohms, especially with your budget, or powering a 2 channel that does it bridged.

What about this amp? JBL BPX2200.1 Is it better than the orion? it claims 2450 watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms.
Also what do you think about an amp for the highs?

Thanks,
Jason
