Comcast OnDemand vs Blu-Ray / HD-DVD

Why does it seem like there is so much talk about the disc media format and not much consideration being given to a alternative that could make the disc media less important.
Comcast OnDemand has great potential in this area. Granted the HDTV DVR box is substandard at the moment, but the core concept of the service is extremely solid in my opinion.
Adding a larger variety of content -- even if charging extra for that content would probably make it the most appealing solution.
It would seem that they have the most streamlined approach. Downloading to your PC and then burning or transferring to a DVR is pretty clumsy for the mainstream. |
