Free satellite tv -- the biggest myth on the internet.
Free satellite tv -- the biggest myth on the internet. Free satellite tv is one of the biggest myths on the internet and I've dedicated this short piece regarding this oxy-moron. There is likely a few reasons you have found this page. You may have seen sites offering free satellite tv, or you may be trying to find information on pirating DirecTV signals. I will explain the latter and I will explain what these sites mean by "free". When you see the offer "free satellite tv", they are talking about a free setup and free equipment offer that DirecTV and Dish network provide. After your system is installed for free there is a monthly fee you must pay for a minimum programming package. At the time of this writing DirecTV and Dish Network offer 3-5 rooms of free setup and free equipment. The other way you may have found this page is if you were searching for information on the free satellite tv the pirates offer. What they do is program Dtv or Dishnet cards that enable people to get all channels. (hence the name "free satellite tv") Now......they charge you to re-program your card every time you get hit, and you have to pay for the equipment and setup all yourself. You will be hit 1-3 times a week. Only once if you are lucky. So as you can see, no matter how you slice it, there is no such thing as free satellite tv. Regarding the theft of satellite signals - there is a considerable effort underway by the police force in my city to put a stop it. They just recently raided over a dozen companies providing the equipment used to pirate DirecTV and Dish Network. This just means that the cost and hassle of stealing will increase. Free satellite tv -- an oxy moron to be sure. Free satellite tv is an oxy moron to say the least. There is no such thing as free satellite tv. Period. For all those who disagree, let me explain. When speaking of free satellite tv, there are two different situations this is used to describe. One is when pirates are stealing satellite signal. Two is when DirecTV and Dish Network advertise free satellite tv. When DirecTV and Dish Network advertise free satellite tv, they are speaking in terms of the initial setup and equipment. You still have to pay for your monthly programming costs which start at just under 30 dollars a month. As you add on more channels and use pay-per-view the monthly cost grows. Don't get me wrong, it's still much better than cable. When pirates are speaking of free satellite tv, they are talking about using special equipment to get all the channels free. Highly illegal. The problem is that this is not free! They have to buy the receiver, the dish, the LNB, the card, etc etc. Then they have to find a "free satellite tv guy" to re-program their access card(s) every time the satellite signal is hashed. And they "go down" a lot! What DirecTV does is "hash" the pirate cards with their satellite signal on a regular basis. Usually they hit the pirate cards every Friday night and here is where the "free satellite tv" theory goes out the window. These " free satellite tv guys" charge a fee to have your card fixed. It can range between 25 dollars and fifty dollars a month. Now add on the gas mileage and your time to run over to the illegal "free satellite tv guy" with your card once a week. Now here is the real kicker. DirecTV will hash the pirates sometimes 3-4 times a week. So now you can end up taking a daily trip to see the "free satellite guy". The "free satellite guy" may get out of their illegal business as soon as the heat gets to be much and you are stuck. The interruptions in viewing are endless and annoying. You may enjoy free satellite tv for the odd two week period but most of the time you are running back and forth to the "free satellite tv guy". Now for the punch line regarding free satellite tv. Eventually DirecTV will change their data stream and your DirecTV card is now a useless piece of plastic. Maybe you can use it to open an old door. Now the "free satellite guy" has a deal for you. You can get a new DirecTV card from him for whatever price he decides you need to pay. Sound like fun! Oh yes........free satellite tv is an oxy moron to be sure!

True, nothing is free, especially in the internet world. But then, i still think this " free satellite TV deals" is worth for it? why? do you still remember the old times where we need to pat hundreds initial fees? and please, look at the cable services..what are cable TV customers getting?

While I somewhat agree with you , there are some "free satellite men" that will reprogram your card free if it goes out within a certain time frame. Also, I have seen cards last up to a year without being scrambled. Where theres a will theres a way, but Id just rather pay for it myself |

Satellite T.V. gives you enough channels so maybe you'll find something worth watching. Pirating it is sorting through the crap that pollutes our programing without paying for it. I don't pay the neighbor's dog for shatting on my lawn and I won't pay Direct TV, the FCC or Clear Channel for shatting on my 1st Amendment. -Beasthouse. |

Check out the Pansat 2500A receivers. You can get them cheap if your smart and shop around. Seen them on Ebay as low as $139. Supposedly they pop up at fleabag swapmeets for around $60 but I have not seen one that cheap yet. Buy one un-flashed and dig up the software to flash it yourself. There are some good discussion groups out there that have reliable info and software for free. Don't pay for any info or software! You will most likely get ripped off. Dishes are easy to get and cheap if you know where to look. Many apartment managers end up with garages full of them from tenants that split and leave there gear. I have gotten quite a few dish 500s and direct tv rigs for free from my landlord who manages multiple buildings. I have had the sky wide open for me, my family and friends for over a year now with no hassles. They changed the keys on me once and within minutes I found the new keys on the web and was back up. Piss on the old smart card hacks. Too much cat and mouse BS for me. I'll leave it up to you guys to do your own research. Dummies deserve to pay. Smart folks figure things out and work around it. Happy Hackin!

free satellite dish is what I advertise not free satellite tv. You are being a little misleading on this subject of most these internet ads are for free dishes not for free satellite tv.I agree some of the wording stinks and makes it look bad for others who are just trying to make a living. |

I just want Direct TV for the NFL package. i work for a cable company so I get free cable, HSD, Pay per view...etc. I called Direct TV and after everything, the NFL package would end up costing me over 600 bucks. That includes the 1 year must sign contract. Its B.S. I'm going illegal. |

Free satellite tv works it requires an inital investment, you never have to go to anyone for fixing your card you program it yourself. The programmers are widely available, just search the net. When the cards are flashed the new info is ready for you within an hour or so, usually less.. Potshot has the real answer the pansat and a couple other recievers when flashed with software works on dish network, and if flashed by dish you'll be up and running again in just a few minutes |

Free satellite TV exists and has for a long time - I'm not sure whether this thread is specific to the US - I don't know much about the situation there wrt satellite TV. Here in Europe there are two ways to get free satellite TV (of course you have a one time cost to buy the equipment but from then on nothing). The legal way to get free satellite TV is to watch the free-to-air channels of which there are plenty - they don't show recently released films or such, but there is plenty to watch - especially if you can understand more than one language. There is no subscription, no cards - nothing. Just buy the dish and receiver, install it and watch as much as you like. The second way is the pirate way, which has been referred to in the article. However I am surprised that expenses are mentioned. If you have the right decoder, then you can receive lots of Pay TV channels with all the latest films, sports and stuff. All one does when the codes are changed is to download a new keyfile (and sometimes firmware and other stuff) freely from one of the multitude hacker message boards. It is not necessary to go to anyone to program cards or anything of the sort. This way of doing things is rampant here in Europe and is a constant nightmare for the networks. The networks occasionally get the upper hand by introducing some new encryption technology, but it is usually only a short time until the hackers catch up. |

Life here in the caribbean is not as stress ful as in the USA. If someone really wants the satelite tv, they'll get it. I was in it for a short time but wan't worth the hassle after a while. Also, i haven't seen any of those decoders y'all talk about. |

Any (digital) decoder which can take a standard CAM (conditional access module) will do. You can find details of suitable CAMs to insert all over the internet. Two popular ones are Dragon and Matrix Revolutions - there is lots of support for them (software updates, codes etc). Alternatively you can get a Humax 5400 decoder which doesn't even need a CAM. All you need is to download some stuff from the internet and load it into the decoder with a serial cable. (Apparently some models may need a small hardware modification) I would think this paticular decoder is easily available anywhere in the world. |

Here is a trick a friend told me. I have more or less verified this as working and it DOES NOT require you to use either a hacked smart card or a modified unit. This can work on an individual receiver basis or an entire set of receivers. This is for Dish Network subscribers only and can allow free service to an additional receiver on an existing account or free service period. Step 1. Open a new account. Subscribe for all channels, or at least the channels you want, and keep it open for about a month or so. This way they will get something from it. Step 2. Disconnect the receiver(s) from the satellite dish. Leave them plugged in and connected to the TV though. Step 3. Call in and either deactivate any receivers you don't want (i.e. leave only one on the account to remove additional receiver fees) or cancel the entire account. They will require Receiver ID codes so that is why I said to leave them plugged in and connected to the TV. Step 4. With the receivers disconnected from the satellite dish leave them that way for a few days. This should allow the 24 hour timespan for deactivation. Step 5. Now connect them and verify that the channels can still be received. This worked for me on an individual receiver basis but a friend told me that it worked for an entire account too. Here is why it works. When you deactivate a receiver Dish Network will send a signal to the satellite. The satellite will send a reprogram signal to the receiver so that the smart card gets marked as unauthorized. By disconnecting the receiver from the satellite dish it never gets that signal. The CSR at Dish Network has told me it can take up to 24 hours for the deactivation to complete so that is why I said to wait a few days. Please note that I do not know how long this will work for. My friend told me that it has been working for the past few months for him. |

Wow, this article is something else. I don't think I've ever seen someone speak so adamantly about something they obviously know so little about. Free satellite is about as big a myth as fluoride in drinking water. If you don't know about it, you just aren't paying attention. Chris from Malta briefly explained Free-to-Air satellite signals, so let's just explore that. For $60 or so (yes I guess nothing is 'absoltely' free), you can buy a Twinhan dvb-s satellite receiver card for your PC. With cable companies like Comcast spreading out and offering good quality digital cable for competitive prices and incentives for switching 'away' from Satellite TV it's not really hard to find a dish someone just wants rid of. There, you now have everything you need to watch Satellite TV all for a one time fee of $60. I don't even want to hear the 'what if you don't have a PC' argument, if you don't have a PC you shouldn't be reading this article. Now... I grant that you might want to output to your tv, so you need a card with an s-video out. This isn't hard to find or expensive. You can even find plenty of programs to do this that offer TiVO like functionality (free ones at that). Don't bother asking for details, but I will say that most of these cards can also be used to decrypt non free-to-air satellite tv. If it uses DVB-S, it can be decrypted. At least 1 major provider of satellite service uses DVB-S. With the right knowledge and the right algorithms you can watch tv and never 'go down' because your PC can adjust keys as they're sent down the line. I won't go any further into this, it's illegal and I'm against it. I just want to make it clear and evident that the person who wrote this article has no clue what they are talking about, none whatsoever. I realize this is a forum, but I think this is a perfect example of low quality journalism that gets passed off as researched fact. Research it yourself. Then you too will know more than this guy. (Just a note: Brent also sells DTV systems, so he probably has a stake in whether or not you believe his article) |

Well said Jdiggity, there is an obvious lack of knowledge here, And i'm not talking about us.. although i can see why you might see it as a myth now days, (Directv pirating is very rare these days if even still existant), but back in the day it was huge as were the penalties for it. Not a myth, but rather you're just a little late in the game. Paying For Tv is the right thing to do ;-), even if the media is a load of BS. Everyone Pay for your Brainwashing now... |

Jdiggity, While some of your info is correct the majority of it is very general. Yes there is a DVB-S card out there for the PC. However, It only offers free-to-air channels. If there is a way to decrypt non free-to-air channels, please be specific with the information on how to decrypt those channels. The hard part is not getting a dish/pc/DVB-s card, the hard part is decrypting channels. I dont see how someone could be so stupid to explain the simple facts with the most detail and the complex facts with the least detail. This makes me think you know less than Annonymous up there. |

That's why I'm careful to advertise "Free Satellite System" when I do. That "FREE" includes the system (receivers and remotes up to 4 rooms) and the installation. I know many people who would like to "rip-off" the major providers by pirating signal, but there are many others who would just rather pay for their service monthly. Besides, right now the programming is reasonably priced and channel offerings are competitive and most times better than cable. If you want more info on good deals like this for regular, non-ripoff-ers (ha) check out my website: http://satellite.blindmensee.com |

Any company or businesss that says "Free Satellite System". Is nothing short of a liar, cheat and a thief. They prey on unsuspecting people who do not have a full grasp on the electronic world. Hence the elderly. It would be like taking the motor out of a Porche and saying "Free car". It's totally useless. The cable business here in Canada has a monopoly. Normally there is only one cable company in a city. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Canadian receiving Direct Tv, Dishnet or any other "U.S." satellite service since they are not controlled by the CRTC. No one owns space. If that was the case then we would have to pay NASA everytime we looked at the moon. I am sick and tired of paying high cost cable bills with nothing to watch. I don't think I should have to pay for a channel that shows TV listings or a community bulletin board. I don't call the Home Shopping Network stimulating television. Yet the cable company insists it's a channel we should have to pay for. Not to mention tv stations in another language. (I have 5 of them) yet I'm stuck with the package that the cable company puts together. you would think with todays technology we could receive our own cable packages with only the channels we want to watch. If anybody out there can tell me how to get free satellite signals. Please let me know! |

All you need is direct tv box and dish, an old 386 pc with dos with a floppy drive and a few other gadgets to hook all this together and can all be bought from Canada which to date Direct TV can't stop, I know how it all works and the pirated cards AKA(a floppy disk)reset with the aid of a pc(insert formatted floppy)(when zapped insert a new floppy and format the zapped one to use again)and can access over 900 channels, just look into Canada were its legal to sell the equipment and to use it, the laws are different than the USA so don't get caught if you do live in the USA. The last system I installed cost the man about four hundred dollars all bought online and shipped UPS to his home. Its all free after that. So far Canada is the only place to buy pre-made free direct-tv equipment so check it out. I believe if its in the air its all free... Try hacking into cable and watch your wires get cut. The air is free! So their you have this myth (which is not a myth) broken and all you know it is real so check it out for yourself, get on a canadian chat line because they all have free TV. I told you most of it now go find the rest yourself, It is illegal in the USA if you get caught, so don't brag and tell all your so called friends(liars) or you might look at life in prison where TV is free as well... Don't just listen to your friend on here , go look , seek and find the truth yourself, take charge of your brain and fill it with real info.......thats what the internet is for. |

Another thing , if you have an old 8 foot dish with the old reciever and the motor to turn it, they also have hacks for that as well in canada and then you can access alot more free TV from around the world, something like 6,000 channels all for free. These hacks have been around since Sat-tv first started, I am just waiting for the crackers to hack into Dish Network/echostar so I can say I seen it all...just think if there is a way to lock it then you just need the key to open it, just ask any locksmith not a PC geek because everyone should know if it has been locked then someone has a key or no one would be able to get in, as an old cracker I is , the saying always was... "there is a crack in everything, thats how the light gets in"... just think use your brain if you got one left...all the techs Microsoft has to stop pirates and then 13 year old kids still have free windows XP, how they do it??? just read, if you can read you can do anything, now go and learn.. I am too old for you youngsters anymore.... didn't you learn from school, common sense is all you need and high speed internet and walla walla you now have onions... |

Potshot is right. I have a friend that put a system together with the PANTAT receiver and four dishes. He paid less than $200.00 (U.S) for it all and now has over 700 channels to choose from, including music stations. True, the set-up cost a bit, but the signals received are free and with the company my friend used to buy his receiver, they flashed the system and keep him up dated on changes. No cards to deal with and no descrambling involved. Oh, yes, the receiver was made in Canada, but the dish equipment was bought second hand for a very cheap price. Look at places like http://www.thesatshack.com/ and for those who want to watch on their PC look at the following site for ideas: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_nexus.html |

Free to Air, or FTA is Completely Legal in the US, Using an FTA Reciever to recieve and Descramble Encrypted signals isn't so legal, FTA is all about Recieving un encrypted signals, some great stuff out there, and as far as browsing the internet with the FTA reciever, if you own a Dreambox, it is totally possible, that reciever runs on Linux |

I live in Dom. Republic where Directv or Dish offer no service though I am eager to pay for. That's why we need pirating guys to help. However, pirating guys disappeared recently, leaving me like an idiot sitting before the TV. I am willing to pay regular rate as the Dishnet work does, just send me the required receiver, I know how to install them. Who can help? E-mail:sunnyewater@yahoo.com |

I think this article is silly. Everyone knows (or should know) that when they offer free satellite tv systems it's just the equipment that's free, not the service! Anyways... As others have pointed out, there IS such a thing as free satellite tv. There has been for the past 25 years!!! Sure you need to buy the equipment, but the programming is FREE. And in Europe they have tons of free satellite TV services. So to say that free satellite tv is a myth is just plain wrong! Do a little research before you make a fool of yourself next time. ;)

Right, Europe has tons of free satellite TV channels...however, it is not "free free"...the viewer pays by wasting his/her valuable time watching stupid commercials. On the other hand....in the USA the commercials are even worse....and the viewer has to pay a fortune for it...in my opinion...the viewer should be paid by the hour from the satellite and cable companies to watch their crab ads. that said...i do agree to pay for quality TV without ads. |

Hello everyone, Can someone tell me what are the steps to receive direct TV (or dish netwrok) for free. I see many receivers such as Multistar cooltec or pantec. Are these what I should buy? Please point me to the files I need. Where are the files. What should I do with them? The codes to break their lock, is available easily? Could you give me some examples where I can find some? Please give me exact URL address. Are there different codes for different sattelites? Thanks a million Alex |

You guys are all wrong! I have a set of "rabbit ears" I bought at Wal-mart for $9.97 and if you insert a paper-clip (must be a metal paper-clip, not plastic) just inside where the green wire to the two dipol antennnas are......you get all the premium movie channels for FREE! Let me know if anyone wants to learn how to do this. I love HBO and ShowTime, especially when its free off my rabbit ears!! |

yes you can use your friends Direct TV but you would be able to recive the channels that your friend is paying for and it would cost the extra box fee.Just do not plug in the phone line this way they dont know were the box is Direct-TV just thinks it is in the house with no phone line. Also you will not be able to use PayPer View or special events |

I think the Government should provide everyone in the world with a TV, DVD Player, Stereo and enough channels so that your kids don't need to go to school to learn how to talk. With all the bullshit they feed the consumer, and all the taxes and all the money and not to mention the properties, it is in our best interest that the Government supply the youth of this day with everything they need to grow up and be law abiding citizens instead of "free satellite tv guys" supporting all the cheap people who can't afford 30 bucks a month. At that price and you can't give it away for good services, you might as well find a way to get your internet for free too!! Oh and what about your car? Shouldn't you just steal gas from other people's cars so you don't have to pay for gas yourself? I mean what is the world coming to?! If you want a good provider of free HDTV Receivers and Digital Video Recorders all with a lifetime warrenty and free installation, visit: Gluoogle.com :P |

THERE IS FREE SATELLITE TV, and let me show you what it is: It is called watching FTA (Free To Air) channels which are available on many satellites such as Telstar 5 (recently called Intelsat Americas 5). There are currently over 120 Free TV & Radio channels from all over the world that you can watch on this satellite. All you need is a 30" dish (in most parts of USA), and a standard KU band LNB plus a good DVB receiver. Here is a great site dedicated purely to FTA signals that you can get all that you need from for under $300 and I bought a system from them 5 years ago and it's still working like a charm: http://www.ftasatellite.com There are many hobbyists and FTA enthusiasts out there who are taking advantage of FTA signals on many satellites. It's true you can not watch the Showtimes, or Pay Per View channels, but a lot of people like me do not care for those channels anyway. I invite you all FTA enthusiasts to become an FTA hobbyists. |

Could you please check? I am thinking to buy an antenna and wanted to double check. Planeta Sport 756 389 390 R RTR Planeta 757 405 406 R Thanks Sam |

For those of you who are interested in receiving the legal Free-to-air Satellite channels in North America, Go http://www.lyngsat/ia5.html. (Make sure you add .com after lynsat). Over 100 international channels (Arabic, Enlish (mostly religious),Chinese, Indian, Persian, ....). You can purchase your receiver and dish from many websites advertised on the same website. If are lucky enough to live in a multicultural community, you may be able to purchase the whole set for even cheaper price from an ethnic Satellite dish re-seller! |

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hello, Tv streaming through the internet! no need for dish. Only catch is that the streaming site may be closed down due to illegal broadcasts. However there are sites that attampt to aviod infringment on any copywirght - http://www.fs-tv.net/ there are still over 500+ chane Personally i think that it is worth the "one of payment of Ł4.49" just so see if it works! i will post back later if it has been a sucess. (DVD unlimated rentals; meaning Ł13.99 a mount for as many rentaly as you want but you can only have 3 at any time. posting system 1st class included. Then all you need is DVD shrink to compress movie and an extarnal plug and play DVD writer costing Ł65) Then there is no need to put up with rubbish tv atall! happy watching how ever you manage to do it! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

hi, i agree to that... free tv is really a myth. i thought i can get free tv using pansat 2700a but not the one's i really want to watch - have to buy a dish network reciever now and rue my decision to spend money on the pansat reciever. and just for the information of the other naive users who are reading this - pansat experts say that you can watch free dishnet channels and directv channels on that reciever, but it is not actually free - you have to pay back bigtime on that - the satellite companies can sue anyone from the dealer to even a neighbor who knows that you use it and does not report you. this is my last message here - coudln't find a more appropriate topic to write this, but thought a lot of newbies might see this one. if anyone is interested in my reciever still, reply to this message i might arrange some way to donate it to you. good riddance to bad rubbish. |

Ok, totally new to the thoughts of Free Sat. I have a house down in Mexico that I visit a few times a year, so do not like the idea of paying for a years worth for a few weeks service. If there was a pay as you go or a pay by the month option, I'd consider that as well. The house doesn't have a phone line or Internet, so going online to get the latest codes is not an option. What I do have is a extra DirectTV box at my home here in the US that I don't use. We pay the additional fee for it so it works. On the rare occasion we use it, it requires us to relink it or something like that. I assume due to not using it frequently enough. What I was thinking was, could I bring that box with us (or even leave it there, so we don't have to keep bringing it with us), and when we go down to mx use it as though it was the extra box it the extra room here in the US. Not clear if that possible. Thoughts? Thanks T. |

The TVANTS default language should be in English. If not, you can go to the top menu bar T (tool), then S(setting), to select different language. Good luck! |

Hi There, I was just wondering if there is a way to decode the DirecTV signal via pc (software if at all possible). I Have the full setup and am paying for it right now but I think it's outrageous how much they charge me for ppv. I would like to know if it is possible to skip the decoder, input the signal in my pc-tv-card and try to decode it via software. thx |

Old Sattelite network may use the old Irdeto encryption, that is hacked, and can be watched using dreambox with 3rd party image, ruDream for exaple. Or you can get FunCards and program an acces card for any other receiver that reads Irdeto cards If the network uses a newer, uncracked encoding, (Seca MediaGuard/ Irdeto2) you might can look for someone running a card sharing server. So he shares his acces card over the internet, again, you need a dreambox to do this. |

Just to let you all know,, that YES,, you can get satelite tv without paying for it. I know from personal experience. All you need, depending on what you are running,, for example,, direct tv,, you just have to find someone that can re-program your original card that came with the system. Same as express Vu. Like i said,, it CAN be done,, HAS been done,, and STILL doing it! With that siad,, have a great day! |

Yes....you are correct. Why are so many people paying $40 - $90 a month for cable or satellite tv? I just don't understand! Cable and satellite fees has increased up to 80%. This is a ripoff! You can save A TON OF MONEY each and every month by watching TV on your PC. You can even link all of your televisions to your 1 PC and enjoy 3000 TV channels. My family and I paid a Low, One-Time small cost and are saving so much money per month. I am putting aal of my savings in a ROTH account and it is increasing significantly. Click here at http://www.online-shopping-101.com/freetv.html and start watching over 3000 TV channels on your computer or laptop.

> hi, > has anybody tried out www.free-satellite-pc.com or > anything similiar? i'm willing to pay a once of > fee if it actually works! > please let me know!! Ironically, I just found this site because I just bought from free-satellite-pc.com. I had never heard of this type of software, but this is damn cool. It's about 60 bucks and has over 1,000 channels. Some of the channels don't look great full screen (I'd say about 20% don't look good full), but I was actually blown away (and extremely weary about buying it). It's worth checking out for sure, though I wouldn't say it's a complete replacement for regular satellite tv: http://www.free-satellite-pc.com Robert |

Morons, after paying the initial fees to set it up, there are hundreds of free to air mpeg streams. Granted, for new hardware (C-band satellite dish, mpeg decoder, and a couple of other side car boxes for HDTV) you're looking at $1500 plus. However, the programming is absolutely free. You can also purchase a-la-carte subscriptions to HBO, Starz, Cinemax, etc, for a fraction of the cost of DirecTV's most inexpensive package. Do a little more research before you go running your mouths. (I've been selling TVs and DirecTV for over 5 years now and I have seen some pretty cool setups, and as a proud owner of a 16' C-band satellite dish I have to say it is THE way to go in terms of programming, value, picture quality, and reliability.) |

I'm one of those individuals who doesn't mind paying for the content...after all, those satellites don't build/launch into space/broadcast all by their lonesome. What I DO mind is having to watch it according to their schedule or having to buy TiVo blah blah blah...I'm paying a PREMIUM for TV I don't watch already (I hate sports, why am I paying for 4 different variations of ESPN? Nor do I speak spanish nor have an interest in court tv or the hallmark channel or 50 of the 60 channels I'm paying for). Does anyone have any info on how I would go about running my (paid for) satellite into a computer so I can setup my own PVR (no I don't want to buy or rent one of theirs). I'm guessing I'd need multiple tuner cards in order to watch one channel while recording another, that's fine I don't mind buying several tuner cards. I just need to know which ones to buy. Oh yeah, here's (probably) the largest hurdle...it MUST run with Linux. Anyone? Thanks. |

Hi, I bought this program from this site and let me tell you I was astounded! I was currently paying over 80$ a month for satellite TV, I tried this program and I imidiatly canceled my Satellite TV plan. This gets you more channels than the average Satellite TV provider, 3000+ channels, all the same channels as regular satellite plus some, All for a ONE-TIME FEE of under 50$. Thats right all you have to do is pay 50$ once and you have a lifetime of satellite TV! I even hooked it up to my TV and watched it from there and the video quality was still crisp and clear. If you think you might be interested you can visit this website, it tells you more about it etc, etc. http://www.satellitetvforpcnow.com/ |

For those who are not sure about PC satellite TV, perhaps it's worth to look at a second opinions (other than those who keep hard-selling it)? I came across these two articles and found them useful: PC satellite TV vs traditional satellite TV http://www.satellitetvissue.com/FreeSatelliteTV/satellitetvonpc.htm Why watching satellite TV on PC is not cool http://www.satellitetvissue.com/SatelliteTVArticles/freesatellitetvonpc.htm |

That's right. There's no such thing as "free", but there is a way to get the INFO you need to watch satelite TV on your computer for a one-time fee. I was enticed by this site and ordered it. It is freakin' true! A one-time fee, you get the info and viola! tv is now on my computer . Check this out: http://livetv-on-pc.com/ What's cool is that after downloading it, I went to a cafe with WIFI, and watched TV with my headphones on. Very nice. |

Forget about the Satellite TV PC software... it's not worth it. If you enjoy TVs, just get a Dish or DirecTV: http://www.dishnetwork.com http://www.directv.com In case you're looking for free TV on PC, get to YouTube or even MetaCafe. Here're list of websites that provide free TV/video clip online where you can just start watching TV/videos right away... http://www.satellitetvissue.com/FreeSatelliteTV/freeonlinetv.htm That's what i call free! |

Satellite tv is most definitely the way of the future. However, pc satellite tv is not worth the money spent into a piece of software that gives you crappy images, lag, and bad sound. Just get serious and buy a satellite tv dish. |

Let's face it, if you are looking for free satellite TV on your pc it is unlikely the service is going to be the greatest. However there are some services that require a one-off payment but at least you are getting what you paid for! If you are looking for a reliable resource there's a review that's been rated 5 stars by nearly 150 people and I personally recommend checking it out as it cleared a lot up for me and has saved me a bundle on my old sky service. The satellite TV service itself has been great for myself, and obviously from the ratings & feedback many others too! To visit the review for yourself go to: http://www.squidoo.com/Satellite-Tv-On-Pc-Review |

From what I gather, I am glad that I chose to use PC satellite TV to watch satellite TV on PC. I thought it is a scam but it is not, the software does allow me to watch from over 3000 TV stations worldwide. And these are not some outdated or dull programs as I can find the latest sitcoms and LIVE sports channels. Thanks to finding this site that shows you how to watch satellite TV on PC |

I agree that most of the people that buy FTA equipment do it to pirate pay tv provider's signals. However there are a few of us out there that enjoy the true FTA channels. This is the modern equivalent of the TV antenna...the was the first true FTA. You can cast this hobby in the light of illegality but there is very legal, upstanding purposes for this equipment. |

Yes, there is FREE Satellite TV. But you do have to buy the hardware (dish antenna, receiver, etc.). There are over 5,000 channels that are FREE to view. It is called "Free-To-Air" or FTA. This has been known for a VERY LONG time. The only people that want YOU to remain IGNORANT of this fact are the dish networks that want you to pay a monthly fee to view their encoded satellite TV signals. You can read a lot about FTA satellite TV INFO and receivers here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-to-air http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=FTA+satellite+tv&btnG=Search http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_10692_Conaxsat+-CNX-+CNX-MINI.html "Free To Air (FTA) satellite are satellites that carry digital channels that are not encrypted by their service providers and require no subscription or monthly payment. They are provided free of charge by the provider and are perfectly LEGAL to receive with an FTA receiver. There are Thousands of FTA channels available for free, in almost every language and venue type. Most notably in North America, all the major networks, and local channels as well as countless premium and High Definition digital signals." NOTE: There are over 5,000 FTA channels in various languages. So there are plenty of channels to watch. http://www.tech-faq.com/free-to-air-satellite.shtml ... Free to Air Satellite Reception Requirements To enjoy Free To Air satellite content, you'll need: * A satellite dish antenna (both C-Band or K-Band will work) * A FTA receiver or satellite PC card * An LNBF * An antenna motor (If you wish to receive channels from more than one satellite) ... http://www.tech-faq.com/free-to-air-channels.shtml FTA Satellite Receivers: ======================= http://search.ebay.com/satellite-receivers-FTA_W0QQcatrefZC6QQcrlpZ1651979633Q5f 9406QQfclZ3QQfnuZ1QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ32QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQkeywordZsatelliteQ20receive rsQQrprZ249QQsabfmtsZ1QQsacatZQ2d1QQsaobfmtsZinsifQQxpufuZx http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i473_fta-receivers.html http://www.cyberestore.com/satellite-receivers-c-22.html?infoBox=0 For those wanting more advanced receivers, you probably want an HD unit similar or better than the Viewsat VS9000HD. You can find its description here (I'm only including this as an EXAMPLE of a HD Satellite Receiver, there is at least one other receiver 'out there' that is of equal or better quality and abilities): http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=viewsat+vs9000hd&btnG=Google+Search http://www.buyzillion.com/B000VPNJDE/Viewsat+VS9000HD+High+Definition+Free-to-ai r.html Main Features Of Viewsat VS9000HD: * Enable to decode QPSK satellite and ATSC terrestrial transmissions. * MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 / HDTV and SDTV Transmissions * Video : HDMI, S-Video, Ypbpr, Composite | Audio: AC3 & Optical * Picture in Picture support | Electronic Program Guide * S/W upgrade through RS-232 and USB 2.0 Viewsat VS9000HD Product Description: Viewsat is the industry leader and the NEW Viewsat 9000HD is finally HERE! Features The brand new Viewsat 9000 HD has a 266mhz RISC cpu ST40 that will allow you to capture MPEG2-MPEG4 High Def (HD) 1080i channels with the best picture provided. Viewsat 9000hd has a usb port for PVR (Personal Video Recorder) features. This is a great free to air high definition receiver. * Enable to decode QPSK satellite and ATSC terrestrial transmissions. * Mpeg2 and Mpeg4 * HDTV, SDTV display support. * Teletext close caption. * Video : HDMI, S-Video, Ypbpr, Composite * Audio : AC3, SPDIF (Optical) * Aspect ratio adjustment 4:3 (16/9 crop), 4:3 (16/9 letterbox), 16:9 (4/3 pillar box). * Output format 1080i, 720P, 576P and 576i. (Europe@50hz) * User friendly OSD and operation. * Favorite channel selections. * S/W upgrade through RS-232 and USB 2.0 * Parental Guide and rating control. * Picture in Picture support.(Aux input/optional) * Electronic Program Guide. * DiSEqC 1.0 & or DiSEqC 1.2 * USB 2.0 port Please do your homework because this unit is NOT the only one available. There is at least one other brand that has a unit equal to or better than this one. As you can see from the cyberestore.com URL above, if you don't want or need a HD capable receiver, then you can buy FTA satellite receivers for pretty low prices. But remember, you need the dish antenna, maybe a remote control motor, and a LNBF unit. As you read through the various websites for the receivers, you will soon get an idea of what you need. Here is an example of MOTORIZED complete FTA satellite TV Systems: http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Satellite-systems/Motorized-Systems.htm Study the components and this will help you to understand better the hardware you need. I would be very careful about choosing the SIZE of the dish. The larger diameter it is, the better able it is to receiver the signals. Either Bad weather or being near the edge of the satellite transmission coverage patern would require a larger dish antenna (like 30 inch diameter or larger). Talk to a reputable FTA dealer about your geographical area and what they think regarding the satellite transmission maps in regards to your location. It wouldn't hurt to talk to several places. The more you know, the better you are able to sort through any potential misinformation (BS). I plan on getting an FTA Satellite TV System in the near future. I don't like the subscription services and I see no need to pay them a monthly fee for the rest of my life. Ttry calculating how much you will pay your cable/DSL/ satellite TV company for the next 30 or 40 years and that ignores the subscription increases over the years. The dollar figure might surprise you. If you only paid $40/Month for 40 years, that would cost you: $40 X 12 X 40 = $480 X 40 = $19,200 USD. Many people pay a LOT more than $40/Month. Hope this helps! Nancy |

Hi guys, I just wanted to make things slightly clearer, I am the co-founder of a new satellite tv on pc provider called WorldPCtv and our software has seen a new high! We previously displayed quality as substandard and downgraded as all the other Satellite TV on PC software but has recently taken the leap to Higher Quality Television I can guarantee you'll love! So basically what I'm trying to say is, there previously have been satellite tv on pc softwares that have always been sub-standard and frankly useless in my opinion! But with the recent inclusion of WorldPCtv, our resolutions of display have nearly been doubled!! So all I ask is that you dont write off other improved Satellite TV softwares just because the general view of them is scoured. Thank You If you want to buy the product please visit: http://www.worldpctv.net or Satellite TV on PC |

There is perfectly free and legal Satellite TV on the Galaxy 25 Satellite; with over 100 free channels to watch from around the Globe. The only problem is that the 100 channels are mostly Iranian (Farsi - 25+ channels), Arabic, (20+ channels), Chinese, Kurd, Armenian, Vietnamese and a multitude of others. I paid about $300 to an Installer for the equipment and installation over 4 years ago, and have had to pay nothing since. There are about 10 to 15 English speaking channels on Galaxy 25; === one from Nigeria, another is the Fashion TV channel, (lots of hot babes), one or two shopping channels, a "Peace" channel - actually English Moslem lectures, about 8 Christian Preacher channels, and the best are Al Jazeera English (great news with lots of up close gore), Press TV (Iranian English International news always poking at US foreign policy), and Russia Today, a good channel. Also wierd Saudi Arabian english housewife chatty tv channel among various other random esoteric sites. This is a pretty good deal for folks who speak either Chinese, Arabic or Farsi who can get tons of free channels forever after only an approx. $300 equipment installation fee(equipment which you then own.) |

Free to air satellite is legal for personal use only. It is illegal only for the installer to install it and charge you! If you have less than 8 people viewing your Free to air satellite tv, it is considered a private viewing under the law. Buy a free to air receiver, install it your self, and down load the codes/bin files your self and use it for testing in private and you break no laws! all the codes/bin files and loaders are on the internet within minutes of the satellite going down. Change the codes and your back up! As the law is written, only un-educated people need pay for satellite! So crack a book and learn! it's free! |

Free satellite TV is not a myth. I've been getting it for years legally. You won't get the premium channels like HBO but you can get plenty of the major network local stations across the US plus independent stations, Christian channels, public broadcasting, radio channels and a whole lot more with a free to air dish. see How To Use A Free To Air Dish For Free Satellite Channels.http://ehelpfultips.com/how_to_get_free_satellite_tv_wit.htm |

Hi gang, For those of you that are skeptical of downloading Satellite TV for PC software (or any variation of the name) there's another option to consider. To streamline and get access to 9000+ TV channels, 3800+ radio stations, and unlimited video consider a non-software Live TV Feeds Network. Unlike downloading a vendor's pre-loaded Satellite TV Player software that can cause a rare software-to-computer crash and take up hard drive space, you get greater reliability with a 90%+ success rate when using this network. For newbies who don't know where and how to start finding all their favorite TV shows/episodes, movies, sports, news, radio, music, adult entertainment, and other cool stuff, here's a way to streamline everything from an all-in-one source. Create your own super computer Internet TV while in the process. What's great about this network is it's compatible to Windows, Vista, MAC, and Linux operating systems. Not only can you watch anything you want on your desktop or laptop PC but also watch everything on your TV set with simple cheap connection. Newbies who don't want to waste time and effort searching for free and hard-to-find content, want access to all the popular media websites as well as finding their favorite entertainment quickly, then this gateway is one to consider. Watch Live TV Online |

Not only is this article writer ill-informed but you can watch first run movies directly on your computer. It's called TV over IP! Just like VOIP (voice over internet protocol) has revolutionized the phone industry, TV over IP allows you to watch TV anywhere in the world. This include TV on demand, Movies on demand, Games on demand, Adult movies on demand and even thousands of radio stations all on your computer. I should know I am a TVoverIP Vendor! Watch Live TV Over IP Now!
