I just got my frist surround sound and having problem. I have a pioneer VSX-D711, I have an olerd T.V.,no s-video input. I have an RF converter for my DVD,I have the DVD conecte to the receiver with the 2 pin RCA cable and 1 pin rca cable to the converted. This allows me to play the dvd but, I don't get sound from my surround speakers, I do get sound from the T.V. speakers. What am I doing wrong?

do you get sound from your other speakers? like the 2 fronts? if so, you can select Dolby prologic on your reciever to hear the surround sound.

it's a bad idea to use RCA to hook up sound from your DVD to your surround reciever. You will have missed out on all the true hifidelity sound. it is better to use a coaxial or optical cable for sound from your dvd to your reciever. That way, you can select the dolby digital or DTS sound option on your vsx-d711.
