need options on hooking up a XBOX to a samsung. best buy mentioned using the "optical" but this is already used on hooking up my 300 disk dvd to the system.

what are my options other than the $100 splitter/adapter?...thx jack

Do you have any Coax digital inputs? (it looks like a single RCA hookup). It seems strange that you would only have 1 digital in. Usually there is at least 1 Optical and 1 Coax so if your DVD player also has a Coax you could use this instead and use the optical for the XBOX. And you are hooking it up to a Samsung? Is this a Samsung Receiver or TV?

Sounds to me like you need to invest in a switcher with at least 2 Digital Optical INS and one OUT. This will allow you to switch the optical for your DVD and your console.
