purchased a Samsung HT-SK5. adding my Sony cd/dvd DVD-CX860. hooked up the optical but have no video. do i need to run the s-video to the tv or do i need to hook it to the Samsung? or?...

im old school and learnin. can ya help an old fert out?....rebel

yes, you can just run the video from your sony, direct to your tv.
Do you have "component video in" on your TV? These are jacks that are color coded in green red and blue, and provides a better picture quality than S-video. You should be able to connect the Samsung using these. Here's the catch, you can only use one type of connection to the TV's 1 video input source, composite, s-video, or component only. If you have multiple video inputs, then you can use different types.
