I want to know if yamaha recievers are good and if a onkyo or denon one s better and what you guys thinnk about the athena speakers. Are they as good as klipsch or polk ones if you consider the cost. The ones I want cost 550 but im not sure about the klipsch and polk ones.

Which Yamaha are you looking at? The Athena's are pretty goood for the money and the only one of the 3 you mentioned that match at all with Yamaha. Klipsch/Yamaha is a very bright and thin sounding combination. Look at the Yamaha 1400 and not the htr models sold in Best Buy. That and Athena or better Paradigm make a nice mid priced system.

Yamaha htr-5790 has the same sound as 1400 only difference I see is that the 1400 has a different face. I personaly like the sound of 5790 and the as-f2's
