I just recently purchased a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver. I would greatly appreciate some assitance in setting up the audio settings on my DVD player. I lost my DVD player manual. I'm hooked up with a Digital optical cable.

First: PCM Down Conversion= Yes or no?
What the heck is this?

Second: Dolby Digital= Bitsream or PCM?
What is this?

Third: DTS= Bitstream or off?

My DVD player is a Panasonic. Please help. Thanks.

1: This will convert all audio to 16 bit 44.1 KHz - even 24 bit 192KHz data. The answer is "No".

2: See above AND this converts 5.1 data to plain Stereo. The answer is "Bitstream".

3: See 2: IF you receiver has a built in DTS decoder. Most do but ceck first. The answer is "Bitstream".

Hope this helps

If you go to WWW.PANASONIC.COM you can link to their users manuals and download yours.

Thanks a lot guys. I checked Panasonic's website and the manual is unavailable. But, with your help, I'm all set-up now and don't need the manual. Thanks.
