I just recently purchased a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver. I would greatly appreciate some assitance in setting up the audio settings on my DVD player. I lost my DVD player manual. I'm hooked up with a Digital optical cable. First: PCM Down Conversion= Yes or no? What the heck is this? Second: Dolby Digital= Bitsream or PCM? What is this? Third: DTS= Bitstream or off? My DVD player is a Panasonic. Please help. Thanks. |

1: This will convert all audio to 16 bit 44.1 KHz - even 24 bit 192KHz data. The answer is "No". 2: See above AND this converts 5.1 data to plain Stereo. The answer is "Bitstream". 3: See 2: IF you receiver has a built in DTS decoder. Most do but ceck first. The answer is "Bitstream". Hope this helps |

If you go to WWW.PANASONIC.COM you can link to their users manuals and download yours. |

Thanks a lot guys. I checked Panasonic's website and the manual is unavailable. But, with your help, I'm all set-up now and don't need the manual. Thanks. |
