Hi,
I am using a Samsung E235 ( http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Samsung_DVD_E235 ) DVD player with an optical connection to a Phillips LX 700 (http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=1598&ReferrerCode=1 ) SUrround sound system. Having never used surround sound before I am a bit of a novice, but I seem to get hardly any difference in sound quality than when I was using a Stereo system for sound. I have tried various DVD's and settings etc but the sound just never seems to be "surround" it is more like stereo with some of the sound coming from back speakers. Does anyone have any ideas ? or maybe where I can download a surround sound test that I can burn to CD and play on my system ??

Thanks in advance.

TD

Digital Video Essentials is a DVD you can buy with various video and audio tests. It will tell you if everything is set up correctly. Most movies don't have continuous sound coming from the surrounds, just added effects so you won't hear it all the time or hear any dialouge out of it. Also make sure you have selected the right sound selection on the DVD for the decoder your DVD player and receiver has.
