the old one is an old 5ch kenwood av. the new one is a 7ch pioneer.the problem is, the digital and optical nonsense. thats all news to an old timer like me. i can do a simple swap,and know why. but this new stuff jus makes me krazy.id rather go to the esoteric audiop store and have him/her do it over the weekend.
im disgusted,it never ocoured to me id need a new tv to take full advantage of my new receiver(radio shack guy said so)my old tv only has 1 cable tv out.sigh

any advice please??

I don't quite understand Mr. radio shack says about your TV, but YES you can swap. Digital outputs (opitical or coaxal) are needed for Dobly Digital or DTS. If your TV doesn't have any RCA inputs then you'll have to use your VCR inputs.
