I have recently bought a Sony STR DB940 to replace the amp on my horribly unreliable Sony DAV 800.

My question to anyone that is kind enough to answer is: Will the DB940 run OK with a 3ohm sub and 6 ohm satellites?

I have just read that the Sony does not have a 5.1 output...Aghhhhhhh Anyone know if this is true?

If not I have a very pretty DAV800 for sale that has hardly been used but then thats because it has spent most of its life with Sony.

No issue running 6 ohm satellites off this QS series Sony.

If the sub is powered (plugs into the wall), then there is no issue because it only needs a SIGNAL from the decoder (receiver) through a sub lead.

If the sub is not powered then I wouldn't risk it. You may draw too much current (you would be running it through speaker wire) because the impedance is too low. Too much current will trigger the overload protection on the amp and it will switch off.
