I want to get new speakers for my Yamaha. I can't decide between good floor speakers or a speaker system. If I get floor speakers with a good size woofer, do I need to get a subwoofer too? Does a good home theater system need a subwoofer?

You will still get good sound from floor speakers, but you will be missing out on the LFE signal many 5.1 and 6.1 encoded material will produce which I enjoy when watching DVD's and Dolby Digital TV shows.
