Hey Jim, Whats up Are HDMI 1.3a receivers supposed to pass audio to the Monitor or am I just havin a brain f@rt. I was going to augment highs using the monitor sound and its not getting any sound. If I connect directly from the cable box to the monitor sound is fine from the monitor... Guess it never came up for me because I never cared... |

Some do and some don't! As we have discussed several times there seems to be no standard to the HDMI "standard". Some cheap receivers simply "pass through" HDMI signals and you need to add a separate optical or digital audio cable to get the receiver to play the sound. With others, like you obviously have, they pick off the audio and assume you couldn't possibly want to send it to the TV. And while I have yet to see one, I bet some other brands might even pick off the audio AND send it to the TV. |
