I have a Marantz 5001 receiver (hdmi 1.1), toshiba dvd with up conversion, and a new hdmi 50 "plasma with only 780p (7 something anyway).What is the best order with the best cables to hook up.Can I use hdmi, or stick with component and dig optical.I will be using 5.1 surround .Thanks |

While you system isn't quite "state of the art" I would say that connecting everything with HDMI (from DVD to Receiver to TV) is going to produce a great system that you will enjoy for many years. |

Thanks Jim , so even with my receiver being older HDMI and tv not 1080p with newer dvd it is still compatible with hdmi cables.Although I wont get full hdmi capabilities.I will also be using a sattelite reciever, will this go straight to tv? |

The HDMI will make the most of all of the components and even the older version shouldn't cause too much grief in this case. If your Satellite box is capable of HDMI use that too connected to your receiver. |
