it seem that i get alot more sound out of using 7.1 dvd stero then i do using dolby digital? is there another setting on the denon 2808ci I could use to get a better sound? stero 7.1 plays out of all speakers and seems to sound great , dolby plays mainly in front and center speakers and then to rears and sides in some action parts of the movie, any help

The good news is Steven that there is no trouble with your system. You have described exactly what it is supposed to do in the settings you are using. The Dolby Digital setting is supposed to create an environment, so to speak, that puts you in the middle of the movie scene. This is done with various sounds coming from the different speaker with the most important one being the center channel.
