I have a 42" 1080p panasonic plasma, a comcast hdtv cable box, and a 5.1 panasonic surround sound. I thought I'd be able to connect the hdtv cable box to the surround sound but the surround sound only has an hdmi out. Is there a way I connect only audio to surround sound then to tv? |

If all you have is HDMI out, then the answer is no. I do find it hard to believe that you have no other input/output jacks available on your system. |

it's not that I dont have any other jacks, it's just that I only have an HDMI OUT for HDMI, could I run HDMI from my 360 and hd cable box to the tv, then run audio from the 360/cable box to the surround sound? |

Correct, that would probably be the easiest to remember. |
