I currently am running S-Video cables from my dvd player to my receiver, then from my receiver to my TV. I want to change over to component vidio cable. My question is, What is the advantage, if any, of running from dvd player to receiver then to tv? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

The advantages is a tad improvement in video quality. However note, you may lose the on screen display feature of your receiver. Most receivers are not able to downconvert, hence if you run component from DVD to receiver, you have to run component from receiver to TV, else the receiver display blank. Also, if every video interconnect in the path is not component, the quality will be as good as the weakest link anyway. Hope this helps. |

s-video direct s-video through receiver component direct component through receiver The differences in all four of these scenarios will be miniscule. Go with what's the most convenient/easy to use. If that means s-video through the receiver, that's the thing to do. |
