I'm connecting up some new home theater hardware I've purchased. Most components seem to be working correctly; however, I have a DVD player (Sony DVP-NC685P) coming into a Sony receiver (STR-DE895) via coponent video and digital coax. No matter how the DVD is encoded, the only signal my receiver seems to want to use is PCM (48KHz). When I switch the source to my Comcast HD receiver, the display changes according to what the channel is putting out (Dolby v.1, Dolby v.2, etc.). However, the DVD will only cause the receiver to show the PCM I mentioned above. Am I missing something or not understanding something fully?

You must "enable" the DVD player's DD and DTS output by going into the on-screen audio setup menu on the player. You only have to do this once. The player will then output either DD or DTS depending on the particular DVD's setup choices for audio. |
