I'm not a techical person...my dog stepped on the remote to my SONY STR-K740P receiver and now I have a flashing 'PROTECT' msg all the time. I can't find my user manual anywhere. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

If it is you can try to reset to factory defaults. Just remember that if you have programmed the remote in any way that you will have to reprogram it. It does not sound like you have.

You can press three buttons at the same time to reset the remote completely:

- AV I/O
- I/O
- MASTER VOL + or -

If you press and hold these three together, it resets the remote to factory defaults.

This is the best I could do the info on the Sony site that I needed is under maintenance. Hope it works!
