I'm looking to buy a large amount of speaker wire, but am not sure as to what gauge I should look for. Is 'out-of-the-box' speaker wire around 20 gauge? If so, this means, for better quality sound, I should look for 18 or 16 (maybe larger) gauge wire? Thanks for your help. |

out of the box might be 20 guage at the largest. Someone on here said they called Onkyo about the wire that came with their HT-S770 HTIB and the rep told him it was 24 guage. I agree with Berny, you will want larger wires for optimal sound. the more power you are running the larger the guage you should need. I use 16 guage with my system and it sounds great. you coudn't go wrong with the 12 or 14. Good Luck |
