I am considering getting a Pioneer Elite DV45A as a lower cost alternative that has both decent video and sound. Anyone have any experience, either good or bad? Any other suggestions in the $350 to $400 range? I am also looding at a Denon 2200, but it is a step up in price. Any thoughts on whether there is a whole lot of difference between the Denon and the Elite? Thanks.

I have had the 45a for about a year and a half and can only say it's been great. Wonderful picture quality and typical great Pioneer sound. It also has the best remote I have ever had on any component. I have heard this player can be had for as little over $300 at some on-line sites and for that price it's real steal. The other player to consider in the mid-price range is the Marantz dv-6400. List is $599 and should be had much less. The Denon has also gotten great reviews as has the Elite and Marantz so I don't think you can lose with any of them.
