I already have a plasma screen. Now I need a full 5.1 setup to IMPRESS visitors. Budget is $3000. Any ideas?

Denon 910 DVD player: progressive scan w/ Faroudja chip.

Denon receiver: their stuff is good quality, and though I have separate (non-Denon) components, your budget won't really permit it, so get a fairly high power, quality receiver.

NHT, Energy or M&K speakers, w/ subwoofer.

Acoustic Research cabling.

One comment though: why spend the money to impress others?

Put some thought and effort into it, and try to impress your own worst critic: yourself.
