--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all

I'm trying to setup a low end sanyo home theatre system up at the cottage.

I'm using RCA plugs( yellow, white and red) and s-video.

I have the following components:

- a Sanyo DVD player/receiver (The type that comes with 6 speakers/home theatre in a box)

- a FTA satellite receiver

- a regular television

- a pvr

- regular analog cable

My question is, how would I go about connecting all of this???

Please keep in mind that I'm new to this and that I don't want to spend any $$ on new monster cables or anything like that. I'm willing to spend some $ for a cable here or there. This setup is for the cottage after all.

The only thing I ask is that I have the ability record on the pvr anything that I watch from what I see on cable or sat. I'd also like the ability to hear whatever I see through all of the speakers.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

I'm willing to take pics of the back of each component if necessary.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

It would be helpful to know what the Sanyo model number is to find out if it can be used as the switching device. Ideally your cable box* and sat box will be connected to the Sanyo and then the Sanyo out to the PVR then on to the TV.

* If you do not have a cable box, just a wire from the wall then it might also help to know what is meant by a "regular Television".

Hi Jim

I do appreciate your help. Thank you.

I put together some pics of the back of each component in order to help you help me.

What I ment for Regular Tv is analog cable coming into the cottage through coaxial cable.

What do have as far as inputs for the TV?? If it is really basic there will only be a RF in Coax F connector and one composite (yellow/Red/White). If so do this:

Cable (from wall) to RF IN on your Sat Receiver
RF OUT of the Sat Receiver to ANT In of the PVR (using coax cable)

RF Bypass on the PVR to the TV (coax)

Red/White out of the PVR to the Sanyo Audio In 1

Yellow out of the Sanyo to yellow in of the TV.

Let me know

Jim

I posted a pic of the back of my tv.

I have two coax cables coming from the wall, one from the cable company supplying analog cable and one from the actual sat dish???

Sorry, the cable should go to ANT IN on the Sat Receiver, the Dish cable should go to IF INPUT.

Run TV OUT to ANT IN of the PVR.

The TV connection should be as described

Hi Jim

Unfortunately, no luck with your suggestion.

Would you mind restating your idea by combining both of your posts.

I want to make sure I followed your directions exactly.

A friend of mind suggested using a switchbox like this http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=enCA&catalog=Online&cate gory=AVSelectors&product=1508252&MSCSProfile=287001FD2674671CC1C6E1B8FD422E08A98 5C3327C9E55F4580FDF5B1AFD4041C8F41ACDA4C7EEF9BA8B1A79B93B145178DAF505927BD2AB35C 40442058A3DE11032AD70318912AE918E3E28FE5948630E270483DC1B45EA8D81369D06A18DB3818 12E37D1C7F5E535B280344EC98359863521BE5C752C9C5E001EC378D08F14FE27D7074172B31E

He suggested the following:

Cable connects to Ant. In on PVR.
Connect red/white/yellow from sat to Audio/Video In on PVR.
Connect Audio Out from PVR to Audio In on receiver.
Connect Video Out from PVR and Monitor Out from receiver to Video In on switchbox.
Connect Video Out from Switchbox to Video In on TV.

What do you think?

Once again, thanks for your time and effort.

This should work fine.

Before buying the switch you can swap the output cables at the TV to make sure.
