Looking for speakers for the HTR-5640 6.1 receiver in a budget upto 250$ for the satellites, another 150$ for the sub. any suggestions?

Check with www.Fluance.com they have plenty of
good sounding speakers that fits to your budget.

Go to DMC Electronics (www.dmc-electronics.com) and spend $199 for the PSB Image 1B speakers and another $199 for the PSB Subzero-i subwoofer. That gives you some very high quality speakers and still remain in your budget. The Yamaha has a bright sound and you need some very neutral speakers (PSBs) if you want to fully enjoy your new receiver. This will also allow you to add a center speaker and surrounds later as PSB has a full line of speakers that you can buy as you are able.

Fluance is a poor choice as they tend to be bright and that would only exaggerate the shortcomings of your Yamaha receiver. Build quality is also poor compared to the PSBs. They should be sold out of the back of the infamous "white van."
