I am new to the board, looking for a home theatre system. I found the Philips HTS3544/37 Home Theater System w/ HDMI DVD Player & iPod Dock on Walmart.com for a fairly decent price, but I am not very good with brands and whats good. Where does Phillips stand on quality of brand? What would be my best bet for under $300 |

Philips is a global concern (originally Netherlands) that markets a wide range of consumer products. Its quality reputation is on par with most of its competitors. It is a respected name brand and is often allied with Sony in research and product development.
This HTiB seems to be relatively good for the money with adequate connectivity. It should be easy to use and set up, and you should be happy with it.

Philips has the technology to invent things, but they can't build them for crap. Thier stuff is cheap and unreliable. Pretty much anything Walmart sells is something to avoid. |
