First I want to consider myself a complete rookie in this room and I'm seeking advice. I know it might differ from one another, but please all advice is welcomed.

Here the story.
I just bought a house and am doing some remodeling (hoping to add an indoor swimming pool which will require speakers of course), and a dedicated rather small "entertainment" room. Now, I want to get a LCD HDTV (or plasma), and if money allows an HDDVD player (or blu-ray???), on the other hand, I was wondering on the following.
Complete HT system (all one brand) VS Separated Processor + Amp + Speakers
I'm a little more knowledgeable on car audio, and I go for some brands for HU for quality, then some others for mids/highs, then others for woofers.. but I dunno if this is to work as well at home. I was personally looking at some Yamaha or Onkyo Processors (Either Amplified or running extra Amps) and getting either Yamaha, Klipsch, Cerwin Vega or Polk Speakers. I might be looking at "known brands" and you could provide me with other options to consider as well (that'll be great)

My guess would be to use one Amplified Processor with matching brand speakers for them to be all "equally driven" and have full deep sound.... but again, I'm seeking your expert advice on this... Any advice, or comment will be more than welcome.

Fred

Fred from the brands you mention I am guessing that you are shopping in a large retail store. Try a small Audio Store that may have better product that you are not aware of. For references on these brand you could do some research in some Home hteater magazines. http://www.hometheatermag.com/ or http://ultimateavmag.com/
