I'm slowly building up a home theatre system piece by piece. Currently have a large plasma TV with HDMI inputs, my son's PlayStation3 as my Blue Ray disk player and an H/K AVR 247 receiver. The connections from the P/S to receiver and receiver to TV are with HDMI cables. Until I can afford speakers, how do I get the sound to pass though to the TV? Currently I get a beautiful picture but no sound.

When I connect directly from the P/S to the TV I get both picture and sound but, even at this stage, I'd rather not bypass the receiver if I don't have to.

Any suggestions on what I'm likely overlooking? I thought the audio would automatically pass through to the TV with the video signal - am I wrong?

The receiver will cut the audio signal and want to use itself as the audio supplier. Until you get speakers hooked up to your receiver, you will have to connect the PS3 directly to the TV. Cheers.
