I've purchased a Sony DAVFX500 home theater system this weekend. One problem is that CD's play fine but the DVD and TV volume is low. When I bring the volume up to max it's loud but 40% less than the CD plays.

Secondly, this speaker wire connectors seem to be a Sony design and the wire gauge is poor. Does anyone know of better wire that will work? The connections resemble telephone jack types.

Better wire will not fix that problem. Return and replace.

For anyone this may help - I fixed the problem by adding a digital optical cable. The volume is fine now.
