does the optical connection out on the back of the tv support dolby digital 5.1 If it doesn't, how would I sent dolby digital from my tv to receiver using a cable card. |

That depends on your source. A digital optical connection almost always carry 5.1, but if your cable comapny does not broadcast in 5.1 then you get digital stereo.
