Please excuse if you saw this post already elsewhere. I have a theater set up and I need a center channel speaker. While shopping for new speakers, most of the manufacturers say how their center channel speakers are matched to work well with their other speakers. The speakers that I own are awesome sounding speakers but pretty old and I'm not quite sure how to "match up" a new center channel with these. I'm hoping someone here goes back far enough to know about my ESBs. Here is what I have: Fronts & Surrounds- ESB 7/06 loudspeakers. Velodyne SPL-R-12 sub. Onkyo TX NR 901 receiver. The room is about 16 wide by 20 deep. 8' wide screen, seating is about 12' back from screen and where center will be placed below screen. I would like to spend between $400 and $600 on the center channel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Gordon - I needed a new center channel and saw a good review on Cnet.com of the Aperion Audio 533-VAC (their model 533-VAC @ $280. including shipping) from Aperion Audio and decided to check it out and take advantage of a 30 day free trial period they offered. I was extremely pleased and impressed with the quality and the great sound they produced. Then over Christmas I found myself near Aperion's offices in Portland, Oregon so I thought I would check out all of their speaker lineup and hear how each sounded. Long story - short, I was very impressed with all of their speakers and also noticed they has a higher end 634-VAC center channel too, which I hadn't seen before. I opted to return the recently purchased 533-VAC model and exchange it for the 634-VAC, which runs $495. shipped. It just had a richer and warmer and more authentic sound to it. I also added a few towers and a 12 inch subwoofer, but that's another story.

I couldn't give a higher recommendation on this 634-VAC center channel and the quality of build is absolutely perfect (I got the piano black, but they also have a great looking cherry wood too). You might check them out and see what you think. The 10 year guarantee, 30 day home trial and shipping both ways gives you a pretty good time to see how it sounds too. Oh yes, they also allow you to trade up too, so that is just one more bonus. Good people and a great product.
