Right now I've got a CRT TV and a crappy DVD player that does have a coax digital audio out, however. I'm looking to modernize the entire system starting with a HTIB: the Onkyo HT-S790. I've heard good things about it and the price is in my range. I'm probably going to get it unless someone raises a stink here and convinces me otherwise.

My questions:

1.) Do I need a new DVD player or will mine work fine? The Onkyo doesn't come with one.

2.) If I get HDTV, will the lack of HDMI connections on the Onkyo be a problem? Component video worse?

1. Your current DVD will work fine

2. Lack of HDMI on the HTIB is not a problem. Component video is not worse.
