Hey guys,
I'm new to home theater, and to this forum. I just happened to stumble upon this site this morning and am very impressed by all the info here. Hopefully you guys can help me out...
I just won a yamaha YHT-270 theater in a box system as a prize. I know it is probably an entry level system, but I was curious as to what else I will need to get it up an running. I have an hdtv, digital cable, an xbox, and I will soon be purchasing a dvd player (my current one doesn't work so well). What kind of cables do I need to get surround sound from my digital cable? For my new dvd player that I will be purchasing, is "upconverting" worth the extra $30-$40? Does my receiver need a HDMI input for upconverting to work, or can it be sent over the component video cables. Thanks guys. |
