hi, i am planning to get home theatre system....i am total newbie to this arena..... i have a dvd player with dts, dolby support...do i still need a receiver or just the speaker systems would do? as i am also low on budget, which one would you suggest among sony and onkyo? |

You need a receiver to decode the surround signal and power the speakers. |

If those are your only choices, go with Onkyo. David is not a big fan of Sony's nor am I. But with good reason  |

I'd take Onkyo over Sony, but neither would be my first choice. |

Hi, thanx all for the reply..... if not onkyo or sony, then what would you recommend for budget conscious like me.....max i'd go is around 500..... |
