Hi - I must admit, I'm pretty clueless here. I can get surround sound from my DVD's, but not from when watching TV. If someone doesn't mind, please, as they say, explain it to me like I'm a five year old...
Here's what I have:
Panasonic 42" Plasma EDTV (TH-42PD50U)
DirecTV HR10-250 DVR Receiver
Zenith ZHX 313 DVD/VCR Combo and Surround Sound (5.1)
There is a component cable, HDMI cable, and RCA cables.
Please let me know if there is any additional information I need to give. Your help is MUCH appreciated!!

Oh wow - i finally got it. after trying a million combinations that all gave me sound, but no surround sound, i finally switched the sound setting on the vcr... and it worked. good grief! |

carrie - what i realized was that it doesn't really matter what you connect. i got sound whether i connected the dvr or the dvd to the tv. i'm not sure if there's a "correct" or "best" way to do it, but it all sounded the same to me. |
