My RCA rt2390 system shuts off and while doing so says "overload" on the display. What would cause this to happen? sometimes it does it when I first turn it on and some times it does it after it has been on only a couple of minutes, but then it will work just fine for a few days before doing it again.

Check your speaker wires. You could have a short by the terminals, by the speakers or anywhere in between. Check also the impedance of your speakers, the RCAs cannot handle anything lower than 8 Ohms unless specified. Other than that you could have a defective unit and you may want to exchange it for something else.
